Company Plans to Invest R$ 70 Million to Establish Biodiesel Facility in Simões Filho, Bahia, and Many Jobs Will Be Created in the Region
Good news for the state of Bahia, amidst the crisis caused by the new coronavirus, Binatural has not given up on its expansion plan and wishes to establish its second biodiesel plant in Brazil, generating jobs and injecting capital into the region. Another good piece of news is that, after 6 years, Estaleiro Enseada, a naval, port, and industrial complex located in Maragojipe, Bahia, resumes economic activities.
Investment and Capacity Specifications of This Biodiesel Plant
The company plans to invest R$ 70 million in the new venture that will be built in Simões Filho, the metropolitan region of Salvador, Bahia.
With a projected annual revenue of R$ 1 billion, the Bahia plant will have a production capacity of 360 million liters of biodiesel per year and is expected to create 100 direct jobs and another 1,000 indirect jobs, benefiting the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.

“Investing in the production of biofuels, more than promoting development and generating jobs for the people of Bahia, is also a demonstration of care for the planet’s sustainability. Attracting investments with this purpose is essential, not only for the economy but also for the quality of life of people,” emphasizes Deputy Governor João Leão, head of the Secretary of Economic Development (SDE).

The construction of the new facility is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with a completion forecast for the end of the first semester of 2021.
“Bahia is already a major consumer of our product and, due to this, we decided to expand our operation to the state, where we will be closer to diesel production and the main distributors of fuels in the Northeast. In addition to access to the Port of Aratu for the export of some co-products,” explains Luís Carlos da Costa Filho, Industrial Director of Binatural.
