Weg Allocates Investment of R$ 370 Million for Expansion of Betim Plant, Expanding Energy Production to Serve Brazil and Neighboring Countries.

The Weg plans an investment of around R$ 370 million to expand its energy sector plant in Betim, located in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. This expansion will cover approximately 24,000 square meters and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. With this expansion, the total area of the factory in Brazil will reach 75,000 square meters.

Expansion in Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul

This investment is part of a larger plan by Weg, which aims for a total contribution of R$ 543 million in its units in Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul over the next two years.

The goal is to increase the production capacity of transformers, thereby meeting the demand of electric utility companies in Brazil and also neighboring countries.

Impact on Jobs and WEG Production

With the expansion of the plant in Betim, Weg expects to increase the number of job openings.

The project involves the expansion of the existing building and the construction of a new unit of 4,600 square meters, which will be dedicated to the production of radiators.

This initiative will not only expand production but also contribute to the economic development of the region.

In Rio Grande do Sul, Weg plans to double the production capacity at the transformer unit acquired in 2021.

This new construction of 6,000 square meters is expected to enhance Weg’s presence in the market while also boosting exports from Brazil.

WEG Investments in Other Countries

Weg is not focused only on Brazil. The company also announced significant investments in Mexico and Colombia.

On Mexican soil, the company will invest R$ 765 million to build a new power transformer plant, which will serve the North American transmission market.

In Colombia, Weg plans to increase its production capacity with an investment of R$ 190 million in a new transformer factory.

This unit will aim to serve the oil sector and contribute to the modernization of the energy infrastructure in neighboring countries.

With these investments, Weg not only expands its production capacity in Brazil but also strategically positions itself in international markets, ensuring its continued growth in the energy sector.
