The Foldable iPhone, expected in the second half of 2026, is still undergoing internal adjustments, and sources indicate that Apple engineers are “dissatisfied” with the design adopted for the model. The device follows a format inspired by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, which is likely to generate unavoidable comparisons with the main competitor.
According to information from journalist Mark Gurman, the dissatisfaction centers on the fact that the model will have a book-like shape, with a large internal screen and a smaller external display, replicating features already popular in Samsung’s foldables. This visual alignment is said to be the reason for the delay in finalizing the project, which seeks greater exclusivity.

Foldable Format Must Follow Market Standard
Apple, despite adopting an existing concept, intends to focus on build quality as a significant differentiator. The expectation is that the device will be thinner than competing models and offer an internal screen without a visible crease, resulting from a technology that would have originated from Samsung itself.
This technology may explain part of the delay in development, as Apple seeks to adapt the feature to its manufacturing standards. Meanwhile, Samsung has already launched several generations of foldable smartphones, consolidating experience in this segment.

Performance and Preliminary Technical Specifications
The model is expected to be equipped with the Apple A20 Pro chipset, developed in a 2-nanometer process by TSMC, and use an internally designed hinge. However, according to rumors, the iPhone Fold may not have a telephoto sensor, a feature present in current models from the Pro lineup.
The information was disclosed by the portal Tudo Celular, based on a report by Mark Gurman, who closely follows Apple’s behind-the-scenes and its negotiations for the launch.
Do you think the first foldable iPhone, even with crease-free technology and a launch in 2026, will manage to surpass the Galaxy Z Fold and attract Samsung users?
