General Motors Develops Electric SUV for Less Than R$ 60 Thousand Equipped with Advanced Technologies and Has 67 Horsepower.
When the ultra-compact electric SUV Baojun Yep from the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture was launched in May for a price of 79,800 yuan, about R$ 55 thousand in direct conversion, everyone was intrigued by its peculiar appearance and relatively low price. The fact that General Motors was involved in its creation is also very interesting, considering that the American company holds a 44% stake in the SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture, which also produces the Wuling Mini EV, a cheaper electric model.

Now, however, after two months, enthusiasts can better understand what the charming small electric SUV is all about through a video analysis published by the critic Wheelsboy on his YouTube channel.
The critic mentions that the top trim level of the General Motors car is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) developed by drone manufacturer DJI, and it works perfectly.

Another positive point of the Electric SUV is its fun profile, reinforced by the lovely external appearance that resembles a Suzuki Samurai toy. However, unfortunately, the positives end there, as the presenter points out that there are electric cars in the Chinese market that are more comfortable and cheaper.
For example, although marketed as a kind of urban SUV, the General Motors car doesn’t even have four-wheel drive or particularly high ground clearance. There is also no protection on the underside of the body, which would make life less stressful for drivers planning to go off-road.
Electric SUV Delivers 67 Horsepower
Moreover, when considering its 50 kW (67 horsepower) motor, 28.1 kWh battery, and top speed of 100 km per hour, it is clear that the electric SUV from General Motors is strictly a vehicle intended for city use, where its small size and relatively high driving position can work wonders for the driving experience.
According to the company backed by General Motors, the battery pack provided by Guangxi Ningu has a density of 130 Wh/kg and allows for a range of up to 303 km based on the Chinese cycle. As for charging, the vehicle goes from 30 to 80% state of charge in 35 minutes.
Measuring only 3,381 mm in length, 1,685 mm in width, and 1,721 mm in height, the Yep has some other interesting features, such as heating and cooling for drinks, as well as an external screen on the rear hatch similar to a smartwatch that can display images and text for other users on the street. With an urban proposal, interesting design, and a great offering of technology considering its price and sector, there is a strong possibility that this electric SUV will become an excellent option for Brazil.
General Motors Vehicle Features a 715-Liter Trunk
Leaked earlier this year and officially revealed to the public at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, the electric car went on sale in China on May 25, targeting younger buyers with prices below the industry average.
The electric SUV features rear seats that can be folded down to provide a generous luggage space of 715 liters. Access to the trunk is through a large rear door that opens on a vertical hinge, with Baojun being linked to this configuration like a rear door, resembling a refrigerator.
