Macaé will receive from the Federal Government over 23 million reais in financial aid to combat the new coronavirus. Rio das Ostras will also be benefited with around 14 million. The Complementary Law No. 173, dated May 27, 2020, is published in the Official Gazette of the Union and guarantees financial assistance of up to R$ 125 billion to entities, in the form of direct resource transfers, suspension of debt payments, and renegotiation with banks and international organizations.

The Federal Government will benefit with 60 billion reais in four monthly installments. Of this amount, 10 billion reais will be exclusively for health and social assistance actions (R$ 7 billion for states and R$ 3 billion for municipalities) and R$ 50 billion for free use (R$ 30 billion for states and R$ 20 billion for municipalities).
The Federal District will receive a separate allocation of 154.6 million reais, due to not participating in the distribution among municipalities. This amount will also be transferred in four installments.
In addition to the financial aid for combating the new coronavirus, states and municipalities will benefit from an allocation of 49 billion reais through the suspension and renegotiation of debts with the Union and with public banks, and another R$ 10.6 billion through the renegotiation of loans with international organizations, which have the guarantee of the Union.
The Federal Government will also benefit municipalities by suspending the payment of social security debts that would be due by the end of the year.
