The Paulista Coast Is About to Gain a New Benchmark in Urban Mobility and Leisure. With Million-Dollar Investment, São Paulo Bets on a Bike Path of Unprecedented Dimensions in the Country. The Work Promises to Transform the Routine of Residents and Tourists, Offering More Safety for Those Who Use the Bicycle as a Means of Transportation and Also as a Leisure Option.
With the concession of the Litoral Lot highways, São Paulo will gain the largest bike path in the country. There will be 73.1 kilometers of extension along the Padre Manuel da Nóbrega Highway, the SP-055, on the southern coast.
Investments reach R$ 78.1 million, allocated exclusively for the implementation of the structure.
The project surpasses other important bike paths. The one on Marginal Pinheiros, for example, has 22.2 kilometers, while the largest seaside path, in Praia Grande, sums up 22.5 kilometers. Therefore, the work will represent a milestone in the sector.

Where the Bike Path Will Be Located
The stretch between Bertioga and Santos will feature a bike path along its entire length, about 36 kilometers, and will be fully duplicated.
In Itanhaém and Peruíbe, an additional 33 kilometers will be implemented. Between Peruíbe and Miracatu, the contract provides for another four kilometers.
According to the agreement signed with the Concessionária Novo Litoral (CNL), all works must be completed within five years.
The State of São Paulo Transportation Agency (Artesp) will be responsible for supervising the investments and execution.
Safety and Leisure
The Secretary of Partnerships in Investments, Rafael Benini, emphasized that the bike path meets a demand from the population. “Transport in coastal cities has a strong presence of bicycles, but today many people ride on the highway, risking accidents and death,” he said.
Furthermore, Benini emphasized that the bike path will be continuous, illuminated, and integrated with the existing ones.
This should bring more security to residents and also to those who use the bicycle as a leisure option.
With the project, cyclists will have a wide, safe, and direct route to explore the Paulista coast. The project combines infrastructure, mobility, and quality of life.
