After 14 years, the Tundra pickup, which was the most sold by Toyota, will gain a new, more robust generation with the use of more modern technologies

The Tundra, the largest pickup ever sold by Toyota in the world, will gain a new generation. After an image leaked on the internet and left many people with a “flea behind their ear”, the automaker decided to put an end to all doubts and confirmed the new version of the Tundra.

Toyota's new Tundra has gained a more robust and modern look to compete with its rivals in the United States such as, for example, the Ford F-150 and the RAM 1500. So far, only three official photos of the pickup have been released, one by front, another showing the inside, focusing on the multimedia center and the rear-view mirror, and another showing the engine cover.

From the photos, it is possible to see that the new generation of Tundra has gained LED headlights, which bring a more aggressive style to the pickup and also a new front grille that is wider than in previous versions.

A 400 horsepower engine could surprise consumers

Toyota did not reveal the measurements of the Picape, but it is possible to create a basis for what will come in the new Tundra based on the previous ones. There is a great possibility that it will be 5,81 m long, 2,07 m wide, 1,92 m high, and between the axles there will be a space of 3,70 m. It will be able to weigh up to 2.780 kg and will have a capacity of 1.510 liters in the bucket.

According to the first news that came about the pickup, Toyota intends to equip the Tundra with new V6 engines with up to 412 horsepower, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. To have a base, the 2021 model has a 8 hp V386 engine.

Tundra at No. XNUMX in US Sales

The expectation is that the new pickup line will be produced in the second half of 2021, with sales at the end of this year. In 2020 alone, around 110 units were sold in the United States, a number that puts Toyota's Tundra pickup in fifth place in a ranking that is led by the F-150.

Tundra is produced entirely in San Antonio, Texas, and it is very likely that it will not arrive in Brazilian territory. The model had its first example manufactured at the Princeton plant, Indiana, in May 1999.

The production line had a capacity to deliver around 120 cars per year, double the volume of the T100, and the pickup achieved one of the highest initial sales of any car ever offered by Toyota.
