The pickup was officially named by the company earlier this week. It will be called Lightning. This is our chance. We are electrifying, and we are a brand that people trust,” declared Ford executive Jim Farley.

The expectation was that the F150 would be presented at the beginning of next year, but now it is set to occur on May 19: “The smartest and most innovative truck from Ford will be fully electric and called the F-150 Lightning. The F-150 Lightning will be revealed on May 19 at Ford’s global headquarters in Dearborn, live-streamed for millions of people.”
Ford has excited fans with a short video posted on social media. Without many details, the front of the vehicle was visible.
Vehicle Can Be Used As A Power Source In Case Of Blackout
Jim Farley discussed the features of the fully electric F150 from Ford. He highlighted that the vehicle will have the capability to provide power to your home in case of a power outage. The pickup will also be updated remotely, in addition to being a car that aims to transform the market and set a new standard.
“Every once in a while, a new vehicle comes along that changes the status quo and the market… Model T, Mustang, Prius, Model 3. Now it’s the turn of the F-150 Lightning. The favorite vehicle of America for almost half a century is becoming digital and fully electric. The F-150 Lightning can provide power to your home during a blackout; and will continuously improve through updates made via the internet.”
