Valmont Industries, a supplier of engineering products and services, announced last Thursday (04) that it acquired a majority stake in the Brazilian solar company Energia Solar do Brasil (Solbras).

The solar energy business will now be marketed under the Valley brand, effective immediately. Valmont did not disclose how much it paid for the controlling stake or its exact size.

Solbras provides services for the generation, approval, design, and engineering of distributed or centralized photovoltaic (PV) solar energy, detailed technical project development, and consultancy for new photovoltaic plants focused on agribusiness. As part of the Valmont group, the company can now also provide remote monitoring and control resources.

This will enhance our leadership position in all facets of irrigation and agricultural technology”, João Rebequi, said the Vice President of Valmont Irrigation – Latin America.
