Check out the details and find out how to secure this credit that can be the key to your company’s success.
How Does the Loan for MEI Work?
The Pronampe was created during the Covid-19 pandemic to facilitate access to credit for small businesses, thereby aiding their growth. Each Individual Microentrepreneur can request up to R$ 150 thousand until December 31, 2024. The goal is to enable these entrepreneurs to invest in renovations, equipment, purchase of raw materials, payment of salaries or rents, among other actions.
In addition to facilitating access, the National Program for Supporting Microenterprises and Small Businesses also makes payment easier, with reduced interest rates and longer terms. The aim is to contribute to the development of Brazilian companies. The program allows access to loans of amounts corresponding to up to 30% of the company’s revenue, and each entrepreneur can obtain up to R$ 150 thousand.

The interest rate for this type of loan is 6%, according to the Selic Rate. The payment term is extended, totaling 48 months, consisting of 11 months of grace period plus 37 months of effective debt payment. This grace period is the time when the entrepreneur can get reestablished and organize themselves to begin repaying the loan.
To use the loan for MEI released, the entrepreneur must share their annual revenue with the bank; this process can be done through the e-CAC portal in the Information Sharing section.
Other Advantages of Being an Individual Microentrepreneur
Another advantage, besides the loan for MEI released, is the possibility of receiving benefits from the National Institute of Social Security (INSS). Among these is retirement, which is granted to workers who meet the minimum contribution requirements. The retirement amount for the Individual Microentrepreneur is always 1 minimum wage for the year of payment. This means that if the benefit is approved in 2024, the amount to be received is R$ 1,412.
The contribution to the INSS is included in the Simple Collection Document (DAS) and grants the right to receive social security benefits. The contribution to the INSS within the DAS is 5% of the minimum wage; thus, the payment equals the floor. One of the simplest ways to expedite retirement as a MEI is through disability retirement, known as Permanent Incapacity Benefit.
To qualify for disability retirement at the INSS, the self-employed worker must meet certain requirements, such as having made at least 12 social security contributions before the retirement request, being insured under INSS, and proving through a medical examination that they are unable to return to work.
Advantages of Being an Individual Microentrepreneur
In addition to the loan for MEI released, the main advantages of this category include obtaining the CNPJ for free, reduced taxation, simplified revenue declaration, guaranteed social security benefits, the ability to hire employees, directed bank loans, and opportunities to engage in B2B business.
Individuals can be MEI professionals who do not need to be linked to class councils and whose activities are not considered intellectual. Professions that depend on affiliation with class councils to be considered legal and businesses that exceed the rules of this legal nature, such as the annual revenue limit of R$ 81 thousand, cannot be MEIs.
