New Space Will Consolidate About 30% Of The Deliveries Made By The Company In The Country, Aiming For Greater Agility On Promotional Dates Such As Black Friday
São Paulo, August 2022– Following its investment plan to expand its logistics efficiency, Mercado Livre announces the implementation of the first Sortation Center in Latin America. Located in Cajamar/SP, the new logistics center is expected to consolidate around 450,000 packages per day – a number that corresponds to about 30% of the deliveries made in Brazil, connecting its origins in the Mercado Livre network with more than 100 destinations across Brazil.
“We are continuously working to offer the best shopping experience for our users, and this is directly tied to our investment in innovations that support the efficiency of the logistics operations network. With the Sortation Center, in addition to gaining agility in the day-to-day operations, we also anticipate developing solutions that maintain our growth in delivery speed throughout the year, including during peak shopping times and promotional dates like Black Friday. On this date, we will have the potential to consolidate more than 450,000 packages,” emphasizes Eduardo de Sá, transportation director of Mercado Livre.
The system functions as a large sorting conveyor for packages, connecting all origins in the Mercado Livre network with over 100 destinations in 24 states of Brazil, using technology developed by the company. Besides optimizing the routing of packages in transport, this investment aims to further enhance the efficiency of Mercado Livre’s logistics network.
