With seven waterfalls and about 5,000 visitors per month, Salto Saudades will receive 11 cabins, a new deck, snack bar, and access improvements in a project of over R$ 1 million
Salto Saudades, known as the “mini Iguazu Falls” of Santa Catarina, will receive 11 cabins, a new deck for bar and snack bar, and access improvements in Quilombo, in the western part of Santa Catarina. The investment exceeds R$ 1 million and aims to expand the structure for an attraction that receives about 5,000 visitors per month.
Salto Saudades will gain cabins and a new service area
The 11 cabins are under construction and were designed to accommodate tourists within the influence area of Salto Saudades, combining lodging, comfort, and direct contact with the natural landscape formed by the Chapecó River.
The new structure also includes a deck for bar and snack bar service. While the works are ongoing, the snack bar is not yet operational, and visitor service is temporarily provided by a food truck.

Electricians become a rare commodity in Brazil: the lack of qualified labor is already affecting construction, industries, solar energy, and maintenance, while salaries reach R$ 4,100 under the CLT regime and companies rush to train new professionals.
According to the city hall, more than R$ 1 million will be invested in this stage of modernization. The work is expected to be completed in 2026, extending tourists’ stay in the area and strengthening the economic use of the attraction.
Access will be paved to improve visitor arrival
The project includes four kilometers of asphalt paving on the access to Salto Saudades, a measure that should improve travel to the tourist spot and offer more comfort to visitors.
The next step in modernization will be paving the remaining nine kilometers of access to the attraction.
The improvement is considered a central part of the city hall’s strategy to transform tourism into one of Quilombo’s main economic sectors.
Salto Saudades is located about 15 kilometers from the town center, in an area surrounded by native forest.
The approximate distance from Chapecó is 60 kilometers, with an estimated travel time of about one hour. From Florianópolis, the road journey is approximately 600 kilometers.
Seven waterfalls help explain comparison with Iguaçu
Formed by the waters of the Chapecó River, Salto Saudades gathers seven waterfalls that attract visitors in search of nature, tranquility, and landscapes for contemplation.
The site features an access walkway and two viewpoints positioned for observing the rapids and taking photographs.
Due to the multiple falls and the visual power of the water, the attraction has come to be compared to a smaller version of the Iguaçu Falls.
This characteristic helped popularize the destination in western Santa Catarina and reinforced the importance of Salto Saudades as a tourist attraction in Quilombo.
Quilombo may receive title related to the falls
In addition to the works on the attraction, Quilombo could be officially recognized as the Catarinense Capital of the Waterfalls.
The proposal is included in Bill No. 30/2026, authored by state deputy Mauro De Nadal, currently under consideration in Alesc.
The project’s justification highlights the appreciation of the municipality’s natural heritage, the strengthening of regional tourism, and the increased visibility of local attractions.
The proposal was presented following a request from councilors Adriano Boaretto and Leonel de Souza. After approval in the CCJ, the text proceeds to the Tourism Committee for analysis before being voted on in plenary.
