The Chery Fulwin A9L Arrives with Cutting-Edge Technology and Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery to Compete in the Global Market Starting in 2026.
The Chinese automaker Chery announced the launch of its new plug-in hybrid sedan, the Fulwin A9L. The vehicle promises to revolutionize the market with an impressive combined range and an advanced technological package. Pre-sales in China begin at the end of June, with plans for global expansion starting in early 2026, intensifying competition with giants like BYD and Geely.
Global Launch and Competitive Prices in China
The Chery Fulwin A9L made its debut at the Hong Kong International Automotive Fair on June 12. The official launch in the Chinese market is scheduled for early July. For the global market, the wait will be a bit longer, with an expected arrival in the first quarter of 2026.
The large sedan from the Chinese automaker measures 5.018 meters in length and 1.965 meters in width, with a wheelbase of 3 meters. The estimated price in China will range between US$ 20,700 and US$ 27,600, positioning it competitively in the segment.

The Combination of Power and Efficiency from the Chinese Automaker

The heart of the Fulwin A9L is Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid 6.0 electric system. It combines a 1.5T turbocharged engine with a DHT Pro transmission. The combustion engine produces 160 kW of power and 310 Nm of torque.
The electric energy is supplied by a 33.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Kunpeng Blade battery. This configuration allows for an all-electric range of up to 260 km. With a full tank and a charged battery, the total combined range reaches approximately 1,999 km.
Cutting-Edge Technology for Driving and Entertainment
The sedan comes equipped with a high-performance infotainment system. It utilizes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8255 chipset, an automotive-optimized variant. For driver assistance, the vehicle features 27 smart sensors, including LiDAR and millimeter-wave radars.
This technology, processed by the Orin Y 200T platform, offers advanced semi-autonomous features. Among the functionalities are memory parking and Navigation on Automatic Pilot (NOA) for cities and highways. However, some versions may not include LiDAR, offering Level 2 driver assistance as standard.
The Growth Strategy of the Chinese Automaker
The launch of the Fulwin A9L reinforces Chery’s strong expansion. The company’s president, Yin Tongyue, announced that Chery will soon be the first Chinese automaker to exceed the milestone of 5 million exported vehicles.
Between January and May 2025, the Chery Group sold over 1 million vehicles, a 14% increase over the previous year. Exports already total 443,940 cars just in 2025. This means that, on average, one car from the brand is shipped abroad every 29 seconds.
With more than 4.94 million users outside China, the company plans to use the funds from its upcoming IPO to invest in research, development, and expansion into new international markets.
