Nissan's solar roof consists of nearly 900 solar panels and produces enough renewable energy to power 2 homes a year. Nissan's action will also significantly ease the shed's CO1,2 production. The expectation is that the solar energy roof will be able to reduce up to XNUMX thousand tons of CO2 each year.
A historic milestone for the Japanese company
With the capacity to produce about 70% of all the energy needed per year at the Nissan Motor Parts Center, the installation of the solar energy roof represents a historic milestone for the company, which intends to make operations in European countries greener. Furthermore, surplus energy will be directed to the country's national power grid.
Francisco Carranza, managing director of Nissan Energy says, "Nissan is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our facilities across Europe and we are delighted that we will be able to confirm the functioning of the solar roof at our parts center in Amsterdam."
“Amsterdam is one of the most advanced cities in Europe and we are excited to be able to help the city become cleaner and more efficient in its use of space, energy and resources, as well as making our operations more sustainable,” commented Koen Maes, managing director of Nissan Benelux.
