Nissan Started the Operation of the Largest Solar Roof in the Netherlands – The Largest Roof in the World.
Nissan Motor Parts Center started the operation of the largest collective solar roof in the Netherlands. The project is a result of the first collaboration between local residents and the automaker Nissan, and is located at a company warehouse in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Nissan’s solar roof consists of nearly nine thousand solar panels and produces enough renewable energy to power 900 homes per year. Nissan’s initiative will also significantly alleviate the CO2 emissions of the warehouse. The expectation is that the solar roof will reduce up to 1,200 tons of CO2 each year.
A Historic Milestone for the Japanese Company
With the capacity to produce about 70% of the total energy needed annually by the Nissan Motor Parts Center, the installation of the solar roof represents a historic milestone for the company, which aims for greener operations in European countries. Furthermore, the excess energy will be directed to the national energy grid of the country.

Nissan is a global vehicle manufacturer with a complete lineup, selling over 60 models under the Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun brands. In the Fiscal Year 2018, ending in March 2019, the company sold 5.52 million vehicles worldwide, generating revenue of 11.6 trillion yen.
The company has been a partner of the French manufacturer Renault since 1999 and acquired a 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors in 2016. Today, it is the largest automotive partnership in the world, with combined sales of over 10.76 million vehicles in the 2018 calendar year.
