The New Toyota Pickup, Called Stout, Will Soon Arrive on the Market with the Promise of Surpassing Toro’s Sales. The Toyota Stout Offers Advanced Technologies and High Performance.
Discover everything about the new compact pickup from Toyota, designed to compete directly with the Fiat Toro. Named Toyota Stout, this pickup is being developed with the collaboration of several divisions of the Japanese brand around the world. In this article, we explore the project details and what to expect from this launch that promises to shake up the pickup market.
Attractive Design of the New Toyota Pickup Is Based on the Yaris Cross and Corolla
There are rumors that the project for the new Toyota Stout pickup will come to life here in Brazil, in the State of São Paulo, and an interesting news shared by YouTuber Edilson Santos is that this new Toyota pickup will have rear-wheel drive, unlike the Montana and other pickups that have front-wheel drive.
This development is excellent and helps reinforce the positioning of a model with a more “authentic” appeal. It is important to mention that the new compact Toyota Stout will be built with a unibody chassis, instead of the traditional ladder chassis.

Analyzing the design, which seems quite similar to the RAV4, the front appears high and robust and is based on the next Toyota design coming to Brazil, namely, the Yaris Cross, which has a design quite similar to that of the new pickup.
Possible Engine Options for the New Stout Pickup
Speaking of possible engine options, the media and experts are expecting a hybrid configuration, the same powertrain as the RAV4. However, there are other opinions stating that this will not be the configuration, given that the model could end up being too expensive compared to its main competitors.
The new Toyota Stout may be launched globally, just like its larger sibling, the Hilux. If the Stout adopts the RAV4 powertrain, its price could be equal to or even higher than that of the Hilux, which would not provide an advantage in opting for this model.
There are suspicions that Toyota plans to release a hybrid version of the Stout, focused on urban use, following the strategy adopted with the Corolla Cross SUV, without incorporating all-wheel drive.
Additionally, it is expected that Toyota could use the same hybrid configuration as the Corolla Cross, however, there is also a focus on another version that could perhaps be a diesel configuration for Brazil. However, this will happen only if another pickup arrives with the same engine here in Brazil. This configuration would feature a 2.4 Turbo Diesel engine.
What Is the Estimated Price of the New Toyota Pickup?
It is important to mention that the model was previously launched, being a commercial vehicle sold in the global market between 1954 and 2000, but will now be a medium unibody pickup. The new Toyota pickup will likely have the TNGA GA-C modular platform, the same as the Corolla Cross, allowing it to be produced in various places around the world, including Brazil.
According to projections, one of the highlights of the new Toyota pickup could be its multimedia system with a high-definition touchscreen, featuring a new voice assistant that is reportedly capable of helping to control certain functions of the car (temperature control, audio system, etc.).
The price of the new Toyota pickup may be similar to that of the Corolla Cross Hybrid, which starts at just over US$ 27,000, around R$ 132,000, in direct conversion. However, this price may be higher depending on the date the model arrives.
