The Next IBGE Exam Is Announced as a Milestone, Expecting to Reach Record Numbers in Applications. The Announcement, Which Will Be Published Soon, Will Open Positions for High School, Technical, and Undergraduate Levels, Covering a Variety of Functions and Specializations.

According to IBGE President, Marcio Pochmann, the next IBGE public exam for permanent positions will be the largest in history in quantitative terms. The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics has 895 positions authorized. Pochmann’s statement, who took office in August, was made in a interview with Focus Brasil magazine.

The New IBGE Exam Could Be the Largest Ever Seen

Pochmann did not mention the positions but made it clear that the goal will be to expand the staff and compensate for the salary losses of employees that occurred in recent years. According to him, the agency has around 11,000 employees; however, only 4,000 are permanent staff and about 7,000 are temporary. Additionally, the agency has over 7,500 vacant positions, and the situation is expected to increase with retirements.

The president emphasizes that this year, 2023, is very important, as it represents the resumption of exams, and the IBGE will hold its largest exam in history in quantitative terms, and has even chosen to be part of a National Unified Exam, which the Federal Government, along with the Ministry of Management and Innovation, is conducting.

The president’s statement also opens doors for the use of a reserve list and the hiring of more approved candidates, in addition to the immediate vacancies, during the validity period. After all, if the goal is to conduct the largest IBGE public exam in history in quantitative terms, many calls for candidates need to be made.

Unified IBGE Exam with 895 Positions

The IBGE decided to join the National Unified Exam and will fill all 895 positions through the CNU. President Marcio Pochmann spoke about the reasons for the agency’s adherence to the proposal to unify the exams authorized this year.

The president states that the IBGE will contribute to the success of this unified exam, as it fulfills the mission of democratizing access to federal positions. In addition to generating an innovative process of standardized selection, with better distribution and security of the tests.

The positions for the IBGE exam will be in two of the eight thematic blocks of the ENEM for exams, being block 7 (Data, Technology, and Public Information) and block 8 (intermediate level). The positions are distributed as follows:

High School Level

Technician in Geographical and Statistical Information (300).

Undergraduate Level

  • Technologist in Geographical and Statistical Information (312);

Candidates must answer objective questions with a matrix for all candidates, a discursive test on Specific Knowledge for each thematic block, and objective questions on Specific Knowledge for each thematic block.
