Recently, Unigel, the company that leased the fertilizer plants from Petrobras in Bahia and Sergipe, informed the local union about the suspension of operations at the Bahia unit.
Unigel is in negotiations with Petrobras to try to enable operations, claiming that the current cost of natural gas supplied by the state-owned company is negatively impacting its activities at the fertilizer plants, which are in financial crisis.
The Três Lagoas plant, owned by the state, is a project that had construction started but was interrupted in 2014. Currently, the fertilizer plant has been put up for sale, but without success.
Prates states that Petrobras intends to involve communities dependent on the marine economy in the company’s upcoming offshore wind projects.
Recently, there have been questions regarding the lease contracts for land-based wind generation projects due to potential imbalances with local communities.
The company has environmental licensing requests with Ibama for the development of 23 gigawatts (GW) in its own projects and another 7 GW in partnership with Equinor.
According to the executive, community involvement in the development of the projects aims to ensure a just energy transition, thus ensuring benefits for all involved.
