Beyond Guanabara MV31, Three Other MODEC FPSOs Appeared Among the 10 Largest Oil and Gas Producers in Brazil.

MODEC, one of the leading companies in the oil and gas sector, has once again stood out on the national scene, with its FPSOs achieving production records. According to the Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin from the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP), MODEC’s fleet was responsible for over 26% of national oil and gas production in 2024, consolidating its leadership position in Brazil.

Among the ten largest producers of oil and gas in Brazil, four platforms operated by MODEC hold prominent positions.

The FPSO Guanabara MV31, located in the Mero field, was the largest producer of oil and gas in 2024, maintaining the leadership it had already achieved in 2023.

Records Achieved by the Japanese Multinational in the Brazilian Pre-Salt

MODEC is not limited to leading production; it also stands out for setting historical records.

The FPSO Guanabara MV31, which had been the largest producer in the pre-salt since August 2023, reached a significant milestone in November, achieving 184,263.18 barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil and 12.04 million cubic meters per day (m³/d) of gas.

With this production, the FPSO Guanabara set the record for the highest daily production average in Brazil.

Until August 2023, this title belonged to the FPSO Carioca MV30, operated by MODEC in the Sépia field. However, the record was surpassed by Guanabara, further reinforcing the company’s prominence in the oil and gas sector.

Another impressive feat was the record time to reach maximum production capacity. The FPSO Almirante Barroso MV32 achieved this mark in just 146 days after the start of operations, a time considered exceptionally fast for the industry.
