With Rapid Charging Technology And Hornet-Inspired Design, The Japanese Brand Finally Shows Its Prototype “EV Fun Concept” In Testing And Prepares For A Launch Soon.
The wait seems to be coming to an end. Honda has released the first and much-anticipated images of its first full-sized electric motorcycle in action. Almost a year after its debut as a prototype, the model named “EV Fun Concept” is seen in real testing, and its provisional name seems to live up to its bold appearance.
From Prototype To Reality: The ‘EV Fun Concept’ In Testing In Europe
The journey of this motorcycle began at EICMA 2024, where it was presented to the public as a concept. The model, a mid-sized roadster, spent much of 2025 in intensive testing. The new photos, which show the motorcycle with camouflage paint, were taken on European roads, confirming that its development is in an advanced phase.
Visual Details: Inspiration From The Hornet And Top-Notch Components

The design of the electric motorcycle is eye-catching. The inspiration from the CB500 Hornet is clear, especially in the aggressive front end. The images also reveal other important details: side mirrors at the end of the handlebars, a slim frame, and a single-sided swingarm at the rear. The suspension consists of upside-down forks in the front and a monoshock at the back. The braking system features dual discs and Nissin radial calipers, and the transmission is belt-driven.

Honda revives a classic from Brazilian streets with a new name, TFT panel, and reprogrammed engine in the 2027 lineup; see the first impressions of the CB500 Hornet, which arrives with 49.6 hp, 4.5 kgf.m torque, 6-speed gearbox, 175 kg, and Showa suspension on Brazilian streets.
The Great Differential: Rapid Charging And Promising Range
Honda is betting big on charging technology. The motorcycle will be compatible with automotive-level “CCS2 rapid charging” and a fixed battery. This could be its main competitive advantage, as many current electric motorcycles rely on slower systems.
The TFT panel, featuring a unique design in the Honda lineup, indicated 34% charge with 43.4 km of remaining range. In a simple projection, this suggests a total range that could be over 193 km with a full charge. However, it’s wise to consider this number as a theoretical figure obtained under test conditions.
The Mind Behind The Project And The Concept ‘Be The Wind’

Masatsugu Tanaka, a Honda veteran with two decades of experience, leads the project. He has worked on iconic models such as the CBR1000-RR Fireblade and the Africa Twin. “We developed Honda’s first electric Fun model under the key concept ‘Be The Wind’“, revealed Tanaka. He explains that the motorcycle offers a “silent and smooth ride“, creating a feeling of total unity with the machine.
Electric Future: What To Expect And When Will It Be Launched
Anticipation for the official launch is growing. Honda confirmed that more information will be revealed on September 16. It is increasingly likely that the motorcycle will be launched as a production model later this year. An official announcement during the upcoming EICMA show is also a strong possibility.
