Canadians are disappearing from the United States: The US feels the absence of Canada financially, while hotels, casinos, and tourist destinations try to attract visitors back with promotions.
On last Wednesday (4), municipal authorities inaugurated the new section that connects the Poney Club road to the Rodovia dos Imigrantes (Km 25/SP-160) and to the eastern section of the Rodoanel Mário Covas, starting from Santa Martins street.
The work, named after Eduardo Saigh, had a total investment of R$ 20 million, funded through public-private partnerships.
A New Strategic Connection
The inaugurated section features two lanes, one for each direction, totaling about 1 km of new roadway, parallel to the Rodovia dos Imigrantes.
The importance of the project goes beyond the construction itself: the new road will facilitate access for residents of the Jardim das Orquídeas and Grande Alvarenga neighborhoods to the Jardim Pinheiros and Jardim Represa neighborhoods, easing one of the biggest traffic bottlenecks in the region.
According to municipal sources, the intervention was planned to alleviate congestion on the busy roads of Alvarengas and Cama Patente, routes that are frequently congested.
Moreover, it is expected that the new road will boost local economic development, providing a more efficient route for the transport of goods and merchandise.
Impact on Urban Mobility
Residents and drivers passing through the region already feel the difference since the opening of the section. “Previously, it took us up to 40 minutes to cross this section during peak hours.
Now, traffic flows much better,” reported a local driver interviewed by the press.
Experts point out that the new access may even reduce operational costs for transportation and logistics companies, as the road allows for faster and safer movement.
According to engineers responsible for the work, the project also included improvements in signage, lighting, and paving, aiming to ensure a safer driving experience.

Development and Quality of Life with the Highway
The construction of this new route not only improved mobility, but also increased property values in the vicinity.
With the increase in traffic and greater accessibility, it is expected that new businesses and real estate ventures will emerge in the region.
The City Hall of São Bernardo do Campo is already planning new investments in the area, including public spaces and commercial centers.
Additionally, local residents are excited about the changes. “Having a direct route to the Rodovia dos Imigrantes makes a huge difference.
Now, it is much easier to visit relatives or even seek job opportunities in nearby cities,” stated a resident of the Jardim Represa neighborhood.
What Still Can Improve on the Highway?
Despite the improvements, some critical points are still awaiting future interventions. Secondary access points and intersections still need maintenance to avoid bottlenecks during peak hours.
As informed by the municipal administration, new projects are being evaluated to further expand the local road network.
The question for residents and drivers is: what other projects could be prioritized to further improve traffic in the region? Please leave your opinion in the comments!
