First Shipment of Rails for the Section Between Vila Prudente and Penha Marks Progress in the Expansion of the Green Line 2 of the São Paulo Metro.
The arrival of the first cargo of rails for the expansion of the Green Line 2 of the São Paulo Metro marks a new moment in the works.
The material, imported from China, arrived at the Port of Santos this Thursday (17) and will be taken to the construction site of the Rapadura Complex in the capital on July 24.
The rails total 1,500 tons. There are 1,462 bars of 18 meters each, totaling over 26 thousand linear meters. They will be used in the section between the Vila Prudente and Penha stations, passing through Orfanato, Água Rasa, Anália Franco, and Rapadura.

Excavations with the Tatuzão Reach the Last Stage of the First Phase
Before the arrival of the rails, the construction had already registered an important advance at the end of May.
The Tatuzão completed the course of the first phase by reaching the VSE Falchi Gianini. This point is the last destination before the Vila Prudente station.
The excavation covered a distance of 4.5 kilometers, with 3.7 kilometers of tunnels constructed. This section includes the future stations Orfanato, Santa Clara, Anália Franco, Vila Formosa, and the Rapadura Complex itself. It also includes the intermediate shafts that will support the structures.
Complex Logistics for Transporting the Rails
The transportation of the rails between the Port of Santos and São Paulo also requires attention. 47 trips with extendable three-axle trucks will be necessary.
Each vehicle has the capacity to carry up to 32 tons.
The transportation will be done in rotation by two trucks, ensuring agility and safety in the movement to the construction site.
The logistics operation is coordinated to avoid disrupting traffic and to ensure the integrity of the parts.
The final destination is the construction site of the Rapadura Complex, which already serves as a support point for other works on the Green Line 2.
Expansion Divided into Two Phases by 2028
The expansion of the Green Line 2 has been organized into two main phases. The first goes from Vila Prudente to Vila Formosa. It includes four new stations: Orfanato, Santa Clara, Anália Franco, and Vila Formosa. This phase is expected to be delivered in 2027.
The second phase goes from Vila Formosa to Penha. This section will feature four more stations: Santa Isabel, Guilherme Giorgi, Aricanduva, and Penha. Delivery is scheduled for 2028.
The total investment for the project is R$ 15 billion. The new section will be 8.3 kilometers long and will bring significant improvements to urban mobility in the eastern zone of São Paulo.
