Omega Energy Signs 10-Year Contract with Grupo Matheus for Renewable Energy in Its Stores
Omega Energy announced the signing of a long-term supply agreement for energy with Grupo Mateus, the fourth largest food retail chain in Brazil. The contract, which will last for 10 years, certifies that the energy consumed by new stores of the retail company in the Northeast region will be renewable, making the company’s value chain even more sustainable.

The energy to be delivered to Grupo Mateus stores will enable investment in new capacity by Omega Desenvolvimento in the region, a successful example of infrastructure and consumption working together to generate opportunities in the Northeast. With this deal, the energy that will supply new stores in the Northeast will be 100% renewable, generated by Omega’s wind farms, most of which are located in the state of Maranhão.
Grupo Mateus’ investment will represent significant savings for the company and will prevent the emission of more than 120,000 tons of CO2 per year. Omega Geração’s CEO, Antonio Bastos, celebrates being part of Grupo Mateus’ sustainability strategy. According to him, like Omega, the retail chain believes in doing business that values Brazil and bets on the potential of the Northeast.
