Dongfeng Is Delivering to the Chinese Market a Rival to General Motors’ (GM) Electric Car: Its New FengGuang Mini EV, Which Offers the Same Propositions as Its Rival but Can Be Purchased at a Price as Accessible as Its Competitor
The market for electric microcars is expanding surprisingly in China, where GM’s Wulling Mini EV, manufactured by General Motors, is the clear sales champion. However, another novelty is arriving in the sector: the Dongfeng FengGuang Mini EV, an electric car that uses the same name as its rival and has a size and proposal that are quite similar.

This new model, a rival of GM that will debut in one of the largest electric vehicle markets in the world, offers a predominantly urban proposal and very compact dimensions: 2,995 mm in length, 1,640 mm in height, 1,495 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in wheelbase.
Like other electric cars currently available in the sector, the new electric car uses the same recipe as GM’s Wulling Mini EV, which is manufactured by General Motors.

Just to emphasize, other electric car models are already riding this wave, such as the new Chery QQ Ice Cream, which was recently launched in China with a starting price equivalent to just over R$ 26,000. This Mini EV from Dongfeng, a rival to General Motors, features an electric motor with 34 horsepower, but no other technical specifications regarding batteries, range, or charging have been disclosed, which is expected to happen soon.
The micro electric car sector is gaining new releases all the time in the Asian country, where the GM Wulling Mini EV reigns alone with a record of over 400,000 units sold in just one year and four months, with 40,000 sold in November of last year alone.
This new electric car, produced by FenGuang, a sub-brand of passenger cars from Dongfeng/DFSK, will be available for sale in the Chinese market in the first quarter of this year at a price that promises to be quite affordable.

The model that surpassed Tesla Model 3 sales, GM Wulling Mini EV, is priced at around R$ 23,700 and has measurements of 2.91 m in length, 1.49 m in width, and 1.62 m in height.
The model offers two variants and weighs a lightweight 665 kg. Being an urban car, it is perfect for small parking spots and manages to offer only 27 horsepower and 8.6 kgfm, allowing it to reach a top speed of 85 km/h. Additionally, its range can vary from 120 km to 170 km.
