In Another Investment in the Wind Energy Sector, Elecnor Plans to Build New Wind Farms in Three Regions of Bahia
Elecnor has secured the construction of a new wind power plant in the state of Bahia, which will have about 52 turbines and an investment of 44 million euros (approximately 284 million reais). Specifically, the wind farms of Tucano, Araci, and Biritinga that were created by AES Brasil.

Elecnor will be responsible for the Balance of Plant (BOP), civil, and electrical construction for the first phase of the wind power investment. BOP is a term generally used to refer to all supporting components and auxiliary systems of a plant. The operations planned in the contract include the foundation of 52 turbines of 6.2 MW, which will be supplied by Siemens Gamesa.
The wind turbines that are part of the investment will be built on steel towers reaching 115 meters in height and will have wind blades of 80 meters, forming a circumference of 170 meters in diameter. They are the most powerful and largest turbines ever installed in wind sector investments in Brazil. The project is expected to be completed next year (2022).

Wind Energy in Bahia
In the wind energy sector, Bahia generated approximately 12,590.21 GWh just in the year 2020, according to the National Electric System Operator (ONS).
Last year, the start of operations of 17 new plants helped the state maintain its top position in energy production from wind sources in the country. For the second consecutive year, the Bahia territory has been ranked first nationally in both renewable sources. The state government has been working hard to attract investments that contribute to consolidating this outcome.
