The number of employees to be transferred to the refineries exceeds 357; however, not all will be able to transfer, as some have joined the voluntary dismissal program, some are on leave, and others will continue in the units that will be shut down.
The hibernation of a platform is a process in which the units are kept practically inactive but are not completely shut down for safety reasons.
Petrobras’ human resources department informed the United Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) that all refineries in the group will receive personnel from the deactivated platforms, except for the shale processing unit, SIX, located in Paraná.
According to Petrobras, the resumption of production from the hibernated fields will still be defined. Most likely, the platforms would resume activities when under the direction of a new investor.
The 49 paralyzed production units are distributed across four basins – Campos, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sergipe-Alagoas. In Bahia and Espírito Santo, there will be changes in activities and processes.
The platforms and rigs are installed in fields that were no longer of interest to Petrobras and, therefore, are on the company’s divestment list.
