The Forecast Is That Petrobras Would Start Activities in 2020, but the State-Owned Company’s Partner Operators Decided to Advance the Schedule
Petrobras’ drilling plans for the major discovery of Uirapuru, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, have been moved forward to this year instead of 2020, a fact that was confirmed in an official statement by ExxonMobil on August 2, a partner of the state company on the asset, along with Galp and Equinor. Now That Extraction Costs Are Lower (Learn Here Why), the schedule can be advanced.
“We are hopeful that this exploratory well in Uirapuru, which is close to Carcará, will be drilled with Petrobras in this second semester,” said ExxonMobil’s Vice President, Neil A Chapman.
According to previous studies, Uirapuru is expected to contain around 7.8 billion barrels of high-quality oil northeast of Carcará, as well as extraordinary reserves of natural gas, with lower levels of carbon dioxide, when compared to the pre-salt of Mero and Lula, operated by Petrobras and Total respectively.
