Through the West Tellus Drillship, the Brazilian oil and gas giant Petrobras identified the presence of hydrocarbons in the pioneer well of block CM-657, located in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin
The well 1-BRSA-1376D-RJS (Naru) is located approximately 308 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro, in a water depth of 2,892 meters. Petrobras stated this Wednesday (23) that the well confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in carbonate reservoirs in the pre-salt region.

The well data will be analyzed to better assess the potential and direct exploratory activities in the area, Petrobras added.
Block CM-657 was acquired in March 2018 during the 15th bidding round of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), under the Concession regime. The asset is located in the southern sector of the Campos Basin.

Petrobras is the operator of the block and holds a 30 percent stake, in partnership with ExxonMobil (40 percent) and Equinor (30 percent).
The drilling operation on the asset began in June, with the West Tellus drillship from Seadrill.
