A discovery of great relevance for the energy sector was announced by Petrobras this Monday, April 13, 2026.

The company confirmed the presence of hydrocarbons in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin, after drilling an exploratory well in deep waters.

The find occurred in the C-M-477 block, in the SC-AP4 sector, expanding knowledge about the area and reinforcing the energy potential of the region.

Exploratory well reveals important signs on the seabed

The discovery was recorded in the well 1-BRSA-1404DC-RJS, located about 201 kilometers off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Additionally, the operation took place at a depth of 2,984 meters of water, which shows the level of complexity of the activity.

The block is operated by Petrobras, which holds a 70% stake, in partnership with bp, which holds the remaining 30%.

Analyses will reveal the true potential of the discovery

After the identification of hydrocarbons, the collected samples will be sent for laboratory analyses.

These studies will allow for the characterization of the reservoirs and the fluids found, an essential step to understand the potential of the area.
