The companies will now proceed to the firm pricing stage. The bidding committee has already sent the list of technical specifications required by Petrobras for the rigs.
According to information from PetróleoHoje, it is believed that some of the daily rates offered were below US$ 200,000, despite being a long-term contract. The final price, taking into account the technical requirements for each piece of equipment, is expected to be presented next month.

Some companies submitted more than one rig in the bidding process. There are speculations that Ocyan would be competing with the Norbe VIII and Norbe XIX, while Seadrill is also believed to be competing with more than one unit. Constellation, on the other hand, is said to have submitted only the drilling vessel Brava Star.
The expectation is that the bidding will be completed by September, with the acquisition of one to two units to operate for Petrobras in the Mero field.
The decision on the number of rigs to be chartered by Petrobras in the bidding will depend on the final value of the daily rates offered in the auction.
The contracted rigs will be chartered for a period of 425 days, with the possibility of extension for up to 655 days. The drilling campaign is expected to begin in June 2021.
