Contract Ensures Continuity of Offshore Operations with Specialized Support Vessel
Petrobras has just renewed its commitment with Solstad Offshore, extending the use of the Normand Turquesa vessel until 2030. The contract reinforces the Brazilian state-owned company’s presence in long-term offshore operations and highlights the continuity of logistical investments in the energy sector.
Petrobras Ensures Continuity of Offshore Operation
Solstad Offshore confirmed, through an official statement, the signing of a new contract with Petrobras involving the AHTS (Anchor Handling Tug Supply) Normand Turquesa. The new term will start in February 2026, with a validity of four years. Until then, the current contract has been extended by another nine months, ensuring the operation of the vessel until February 2030.
According to information from the Offshore Energy portal, the agreement still depends on final approval from the Solstad board, but it already represents a strategic decision to strengthen cooperation between the two companies. The vessel is used for anchoring support and providing operational structures in deep waters.

Solstad Vessel Will Continue Operating with Petrobras Until the End of the Decade
Built in 2007, the Normand Turquesa is of the UT 722 L type, with capacity for 30 crew members. Its use by Petrobras demonstrates the state-owned company’s interest in maintaining experienced vessels adapted to the technical requirements of its offshore operations. The renewal of the contract with Solstad signals the value placed on reliable suppliers aligned with the company’s demands.
Solstad Offshore also highlighted that it recently closed other contracts with Petrobras, encompassing two additional AHTS vessels and one Construction Support Vessel (CSV). All are set to begin in the first quarter of 2026 and have a duration of four years, strengthening the Norwegian company’s presence in the Brazilian market.
Contract Expansion Reflects Petrobras’ Strategy
The continuity of the partnership with Solstad Offshore is part of Petrobras’ strategy to ensure logistical stability for its offshore operations. By renewing long-term contracts with established companies in the segment, the state-owned company reinforces its technical-operational planning, ensuring specialized and constant support for its platforms.
Additionally, the initiative shows that Petrobras remains committed to robust and highly complex operations, which require vessels with proven performance in demanding maritime conditions.
Offshore Presence Remains a Priority for Petrobras
Even with global industry movements towards energy transition, Petrobras continues to invest heavily in its offshore operations. The contract extension with Solstad is further proof that the Brazilian state-owned company continues to invest in high-performance technical solutions, maintaining competitiveness and safety as pillars of its operations in the oil and gas sector.
