New Toyota Corolla Cross Pickup? Launch of New Toyota Pickup Will Be Based on the Successful SUV in Brazil and Will Feature a 176-Horsepower Naturally Aspirated Engine to Win Over Consumers.
With the success of the Corolla Cross, the Japanese brand plans to launch a new pickup in 2026 based on the SUV. Still without a defined name, the new Toyota pickup will share the TNGA platform of the SUV, as well as several other components. The Toyota Corolla Cross pickup will be produced in Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, just like the Corolla Cross.
New Toyota Pickup Promises to Deliver Up to 176 Horsepower
In addition to the platform, the Toyota Corolla Cross monocoque pickup will have fenders and front doors, hood, and sides in common with the SUV. Headlights and bumpers will be custom-made. At the back, the bed of the new Toyota pickup will have a traditional opening.
Its size will be similar to that of midsize pickups, such as Fiat Toro, Ram Rampage, Ford Maverick, and Renault Oroch, for example. The wheelbase of the new Toyota pickup is expected to be around 2.80 meters.

Toyota launches Corolla cheaper than Renault Kwid and Fiat Mobi with a 1.5 engine of 120 hp, 6-speed manual transmission, and a price of R$ 66,000; the sedan for driving schools in Japan also received a 140 hp hybrid version.

Ford launches the new Edge 2027 with a 252 hp 2.0 turbo engine from the Maverick, a 275 hp hybrid version, 7 seats, a 27” screen, premium finish, and a price equivalent to R$ 165,000; less than the Territory in Brazil.
The interior should also closely resemble its SUV sibling in terms of finishing; however, some details will be exclusive, such as the seats and upholstery.
The list of standard features for the Toyota Corolla Cross pickup is also expected to be quite extensive, especially regarding safety. The Toyota Safety Sense, which includes semi-autonomous driving assistants, should be among the equipment.
The entry-level configurations of the pickup will come with a 2.0 naturally aspirated engine delivering up to 176 horsepower and 21.4 kgfm of torque, paired with a CVT that simulates up to ten gears from the Corolla family. However, in the top versions, the new Toyota pickup’s powertrain is expected to be a new plug-in hybrid that combines a 2.5 engine with an electric motor.
It’s a powertrain similar to that of the RAV4, but that will be flex in the new model. Finally, the future vehicle is also expected to offer an all-wheel-drive option.
Japanese Manufacturer Is Focusing on the Pickup Market
The Toyota plans to position the new Toyota Corolla Cross pickup as a strong option among midsize pickups, aiming to compete with already successful models in Brazil. With generous interior space, comfortable driving, and powertrains that combine efficiency and power, the launch should further reinforce the brand’s presence in the country.
More details will come as the launch of the new Toyota pickup approaches, but it is already expected that this pickup will bring innovation and a sustainable touch to the Brazilian automotive market.
It is worth noting that Toyota is preparing a series of launches for 2025, focusing on models from different categories, including SUVs, sedans, sports cars, and pickups.
The Japanese brand, known for its reliability and technological innovation, promises to bring to the Brazilian and international markets vehicles that cater to everyone from consumers seeking efficient urban mobility to enthusiasts of off-road and sports vehicles.
New Toyota Stout Pickup Also Coming Soon to the Market
The automotive market is always evolving, and Toyota is about to launch another innovation that promises to change the industry: the monocoque midsize pickup that will possibly be called the Toyota Stout. Developed in Brazil, this pickup represents a milestone in the brand’s strategy to compete in the midsize pickup segment, targeting competitors like the Fiat Toro, Ford Maverick, and other future market entrants.
The plans for the new pickup are well advanced. With a launch scheduled for 2026, Toyota has already begun developing parts in Brazil. Local suppliers are involved in creating prototypes of several essential components, including suspension systems, headlights, and interior finishing elements.
