Pré-Sal Petróleo SA Presents List of Companies Participating in the Auction for Lula and Sapinhoá Fields, Four of Which Are Oil Giants
On Friday, the 31st, the auction for pre-salt oil will be held under the responsibility of the Union. The event is highly anticipated as the fields being auctioned are considered promising, and Pré-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA) expects that the sale of the Lula and Sapinhoá Fields will represent a return on profits and a resurgence of business for the national oil and gas sector. The auction organizers have presented the list of four companies, considered global oil giants, looking to acquire the wells.
The Auction and the Oil Giants
The companies eligible to participate in the auction are Petrobras, which already operates in the Santos Basin where the wells for the auction are located. Shell, which has been seeking partnerships in the national oil market for some time and may increase business in Brazil. Total, which is already involved in several contracts with Petrobras and is gradually growing, now attempting to operate directly in the exploration and production of the pre-salt. The fourth company is Repsol-Sinopec, which seeks to advance in Brazil by acquiring wells in the fields basin.
