Governor Jorginho Mello Reinforces the Schedule for the Construction of Via Mar
During an agenda in Joinville this Friday, Governor Jorginho Mello was questioned about the project and reinforced the purpose of starting the construction of the coastal corridor still next year. The governor mentioned that there is a batch of works that is further along, which could become the initial segment of the new highway. Extension, Cost, and Progress of the Lots
Via Mar is a road construction project of 145 km. It is designed to connect the city of Joinville to the Greater Florianópolis Ring Road. The total cost of the work is estimated at up to R$ 9.2 billion. Currently, executive projects for a stretch of 90.5 km have been underway since October of last year. These construction projects are divided into four lots and are expected to be completed by October 2026, with an average execution that has already surpassed 20%. The project for the fifth lot, between Itajaí and the Greater Florianópolis Ring Road, has not yet been bid.

Construction Financing: Public-Private Partnership or Own Resources
To enable the work, the state government is seeking investors to form a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). The idea is to use this model to fund the construction and the future concession of Via Mar. However, there is an alternative plan. If the PPP is not formalized by the end of 2026, the works may begin with the state’s own resources in at least one of the lots.
Structure of Via Mar and Progress of Environmental Studies
The proposal for the new highway includes a modern structure, with six traffic lanes, three in each direction. In addition to advancements in engineering projects, the environmental studies necessary for the work’s license have also been authorized. This ensures that the analysis of the impacts of the construction occurs in parallel with the development of executive projects.
