Who Can Participate?
Exclusively aimed at Basic Education professionals from the federal, state, and municipal public networks in Minas Gerais, the course aims to train teachers, technicians, and managers to work with ethnic-racial themes.
The training aligns with the National Policy for Equity and Quilombola School Education (PNEERQ), implemented by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
A Step Toward Equity
According to IFNMG, the course aims to support the implementation of laws 10,639/2003 and 11,645/2008, which made the contents of African, Afro-Brazilian, and Indigenous History and Culture mandatory at all levels of Brazilian education.
These laws are considered milestones in the fight for the recognition of cultural diversity and the fight against racism in the school environment.
The training will also help educators address quilombola issues, promoting the recognition and appreciation of traditional communities in the school curriculum.
Mode, Workload, and Certification
With a total duration of 120 hours, the course will be conducted over three months, entirely in a distance format.
Activities include synchronous classes, broadcast live, and asynchronous tasks, which can be completed at flexible times.
The IFNMG Virtual Learning Environment (AVA) will be used as the main teaching tool.
The curriculum is divided into four modules, covering essential themes for Education on Ethnic-Racial Relations and Quilombola School Education.
The inaugural class is scheduled for December 5, 2024.
At the end of the training, participants who meet all requirements will receive official certification, valid for professional development and improvement of inclusive educational practices.
A Necessary Advance for Education
Initiatives like this reinforce the importance of an education that respects and values Brazil’s cultural diversity.
Training educators to deal with sensitive and often neglected issues is essential to form more conscious citizens prepared for living in a plural society.
But what about you, do you believe that actions like this are sufficient to promote inclusion in the school environment? What more could be done to expand the reach of this training?
