Petrobras, in partnership with the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG), launched a program that offers a free technical course in mechanics, providing professional qualification for residents of Betim, Ibirité, and Sarzedo.
This initiative is part of the Autonomy and Income Program, which aims to train young people and adults for the job market, promoting the economic and social development of the region.
The program offers 30 spots for the course, which will be taught at the IFMG campus in Betim.

Scholarships Provide Financial Support
To encourage student participation and ensure they can complete the course without financial difficulties, the Autonomy and Income Program offers monthly scholarships.
The amount varies according to the student’s profile:
- R$ 858 for women with children up to 11 years and 11 months old;
- R$ 660 for other participants.
The benefit will be granted upon proof of a minimum attendance of 75% in classes, ensuring that students actually participate in the program and take advantage of the training offered.
Who Can Participate?
The program is aimed at candidates who meet the following requirements:
- Residence in Betim, Ibirité, or Sarzedo;
- Meeting the criteria of the Quota Law, prioritizing low-income candidates, black, brown, indigenous, quilombola, and people with disabilities;
- Completed or ongoing high school education;
- Availability to attend classes in the evening.
How Will the Selection Be Made?
The selection will be conducted through electronic lottery, which will take place on April 4, 2025 and will be broadcast live on the official channel of FAIFSUL on YouTube.
The selected candidates will need to prove the required qualifications to finalize their enrollment. The final result will be announced on April 8 on the IFMG website.
Enrollment Period and Start of Classes
The selected candidates must enroll between April 9 and 14, 2025. To do so, they will need to present the following documents:
- Identity document and CPF;
- Proof of residence;
- School report or enrollment declaration in high school;
- Proof of family income.
Classes for the technical course in mechanics will start on May 5, 2025, taking place from Monday to Friday, in the evening, with the possibility of complementary activities on Saturdays.
In-Person Support for Registration
For those who have difficulties in the online registration process, the Betim campus of IFMG will provide in-person assistance on March 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, and 27, from 6 PM to 8 PM.
This initiative seeks to expand accessibility and ensure that all interested can compete for a spot.
