According to the program's website, there is no specific profile of Chevening scholars, however those approved tend to have ambition, a leadership profile and good academic performance. Other characteristics expected of a scholarship holder are:
- Have a very clear idea of how the course you will take can benefit your country of origin;
- Demonstrate that you have the personal qualities necessary to benefit from the scholarship and use it in your career;
- Want to connect with other Chevening Scholars while studying in the UK and also after you return to your home country;
- Be willing to return to your home country for at least two years after completing your studies to use the knowledge acquired in the United Kingdom;
- Have professional experience of at least two years (volunteer work, paid or unpaid internships also apply);
- Have a professional history of excellence and achievements, and have the potential to become a great leader in your field.
How to apply for scholarships and study in the UK?
Applications to study outside Brazil are open until November 5th and can be made directly on the program's website. Classes for those selected will begin between September and October 2025. In addition to applying for scholarships in the United Kingdom, it is also necessary for the student to register for the course in which they wish to be admitted.
The Chevening application is for the scholarship only, not the course. Already having a master's degree does not prevent you from applying to do a second master's degree with a Chevening scholarship. The Program UK Scholarships Chevening Scholarships cover the round-trip air ticket costs for the United Kingdom, annual fee for the chosen course, university administrative fees, a monthly amount of money for personal expenses, visa issuance fee and financial assistance for settling in the country.

It is worth mentioning that there is no restriction regarding age, but it is essential that the candidate has a leadership profile.
Understand how the selection process for scholarships works in the United Kingdom
The selection process for Chevening is divided into two phases. Firstly, candidates must register through the program's official website, filling out an online form with the courses of interest and sending the required documentation, such as diplomas, academic records and letters of recommendation.
University acceptance letters can be sent after the application period ends.
In the second phase, pre-selected candidates will be invited to an interview in English held at the British embassy, British consulates or other locations distributed across all Brazilian regions. In 2023, around 50 Brazilians were awarded scholarships to study outside Brazil.
