If you dream of living in Portugal and studying abroad, we have excellent news! 35 Portuguese universities accept the Enem score as an admission criterion for their undergraduate courses. That’s right! Starting in 2025, Brazilian students can use their results from the National High School Exam to enter higher education institutions in Portugal, facilitating the process of academic internationalization.
This exchange program is called Enem Portugal and was launched in 2014. Since then, the number of universities adopting this selection criterion has increased, opening doors for Brazilians who wish to study in a European country.
As a result, Inep has established inter-institutional agreements with several Portuguese universities, facilitating access to Enem results and providing more educational opportunities abroad.

What Are the Advantages of Studying in Portugal?
Studying in Portugal offers various advantages. Besides being in a European country, Brazilian students benefit from cultural proximity and a common language. The European diploma is highly recognized and can open doors both in Portugal and in other European Union countries. Additionally, the cost of living in Portugal is more affordable compared to other countries in Europe.
Another benefit is the possibility of obtaining scholarships or other financial aids. Thus, studying in Portugal becomes a more viable option for those seeking a quality international experience with less financial impact.
Tips and Precautions When Using the Enem Score
Be aware of the application deadlines, which may vary from one university to another. Although the predominant language is Portuguese, some universities may require proof of language proficiency, especially in highly demanded courses.
Moreover, it is essential to plan financially, as, despite using the Enem score, Portuguese universities charge enrollment fees and tuition fees.
How Does the Application Process Work?
To use the Enem score in Portugal, the first step is to check if the university of interest accepts the exam as an admission criterion. There are already 35 institutions that have adopted this format, including names like University of Coimbra, University of Porto, and University of Lisbon.
Each university sets its own minimum score on the Enem, which may vary according to the course and institution.
After choosing the university, the applicant must check the requirements on the official website of the institution. Generally, it is necessary to present the performance report of the Enem, as well as documents such as the academic transcript and high school completion certificate.
It is worth noting that the application process is done directly with the university, and not through the SiSU.
