The penalties were applied following a detailed investigation by the Railroad Commission, along with the Hearings Division and the General Counsel. The companies were found responsible for multiple violations of safety rules that posed risks to public safety and the environment. As a result, the imposed fines reached significant amounts, totaling over R$ 1.5 million in penalties.
Moreover, the companies were required to implement standard master requests to ensure ongoing compliance with regulations. The Commissioners’ Conference ensured that the penalties reflected the gravity of the violations and would serve as a warning to other companies operating in critical infrastructure sectors. The firm application of penalties was emphasized as an essential measure to ensure ongoing compliance and safety.
