Due To A Shortage Of Chips, Renault Has Postponed Once Again The Return Of Its Activities At The PR Automobile Plant, Leaving The Productions Of Duster, Kwid, Logan, Sandero, And Others Inactive
This Friday (20), Renault announced that it will extend the shutdown of the factory in São José dos Pinhais, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba (PR), which produces the models Captur, Duster, Kwid, Logan, Sandero, and Stepway for another week. The extension of the shutdown is still due to the absence of semiconductor chips in the automobile market. With the new deadline, the factory will resume its activities only on September 3.

The production line for vehicles such as Captur, Duster, Kwid, Logan, Sandero, and Stepway in PR has stopped for 10 days, while the commercial vehicles line stopped for just five days.
Official Statement From Renault
“Renault do Brasil informs that due to the impacts caused by Covid-19 on the manufacturing of components, production at the passenger automobile factory in the Ayrton Senna Complex will remain inactive until September 3. Automakers Around The World Are Struggling With Component Shortages
This month, other automakers in Brazil also suffered from the crisis and had to make adjustments to the assembly line or even stop their production lines altogether. On August 11, Toyota announced the shutdown of its production factory at its unit in Sorocaba (SP), while the Porto Feliz (SP) factory, which produces engines, was partially affected.
A week later, on the 17th, the union in the Taubaté region (SP) reported that Volkswagen decided to propose collective vacations for the third time this year to employees at its Taubaté factory, where the shutdown will directly affect the production of Gol and Voyage, causing more than 2,000 workers to stay home for 10 days.
On the same day, General Motors granted collective vacation at its factory in São José dos Campos (SP), causing the production of the Chevrolet S10 and Trailblazer to be out of dealerships. Additionally, 200 employees of the company will not work until the factory resumes operations.
