Usiminas Will Reactivate Blast Furnace at Ipatinga Plant (MG) Tomorrow, August 26, with a Ceremony Featuring President Jair Bolsonaro
Usiminas will reactivate tomorrow (08/26), at 11 AM, blast furnace 1 and resume operations of the Steelmaking 1 at the Ipatinga plant (Vale do Aço), located in the state of Minas Gerais, after suspending equipment operations since April of this year due to the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.

The operation of the Steelmaking 1 blast furnace will be gradually reactivated, indicating the first signs of economic recovery. The rolling activities at the Cubatão plant in São Paulo will also be reestablished.
The production resumption event is scheduled to take place at 11 AM on this Wednesday (26) and will feature the participation of President Jair Bolsonaro, the governor of the state of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, as well as representatives from Usiminas and executives from leading institutions and companies in the region.
“Now, we are ready to grow with Brazil, and therefore, our Blast Furnace 1 will be reconnected”, Usiminas stated, reaffirming the growth prospects for the steel industry in the country for the second half of 2020.
