Tech Sector of Santa Catarina Generates R$ 42.5 Billion in 2024, Ranks 5th Nationally and Projects Creation of 100 Thousand Jobs by 2027.
Santa Catarina has consolidated its status as a leader in the tech sector by registering R$ 42.5 billion in revenue in 2024. Data from the Acate Technology Observatory — in partnership with Neoway — shows that the state has risen to 5th place nationally in revenue, in addition to reaching an impressive 100,400 formal jobs in the segment.
The growth, above the national average, reinforces the technological vocation of the region, especially at a time of accelerated expansion and opportunities for talent development.
Record Revenue and Growth Above Average
The tech sector in Santa Catarina grew by 11% in 2024 compared to 2023, exceeding the national average of 7.7%.

With R$ 42.5 billion in revenue, the state surpassed Rio Grande do Sul and achieved 5th place in the national ranking, behind only São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Paraná.
Moreover, the sector contributed 7.75% of the state’s GDP, the third highest index among Brazilian states.
Jobs and Salaries Above Average
Santa Catarina ended 2024 with 100,400 formal jobs in the sector, which gave it the 3rd position nationally in number of jobs, surpassing previous standards.
This contingent grew by 7.2% in the period, compared to an average of 3.4% nationwide.
Additionally, the average salary in the segment reached R$ 5,768 — nearly double what is earned in sectors such as commerce and construction.
The formal employability rate is 39.5 jobs per thousand workers: also the 3rd best national index.
Expanding Ecosystem of Companies
Santa Catarina closed 2024 with 29,400 tech companies, with a growth of 6.2% — the highest among the analyzed states.
This number positions the state among the largest IT hubs in the country.
Diego Ramos, president of the Acate Observatory, points out that the result is the fruit of qualified talent, local entrepreneurship, and the synergy between universities, industries, and government.
Future Demand for Talent: Nearly 100 Thousand Jobs by 2027
The forecast is that the tech sector of Santa Catarina will create nearly 100,000 new jobs between 2025 and 2027, according to the 4th Demand Mapping by ACATE in partnership with Sebrae Startups.
Of this total, 45% of the opportunities will be directed to developers (front-end, back-end, and full stack).
Also highlighted are positions focused on artificial intelligence, digital marketing, data analysis, mobile, and product management.
Work Regimes and Valued Soft Skills
The job openings in the sector are converging towards more flexible regimes: 35.8% of positions will be hybrid, 21.7% fully remote, and only 17.9% in-person.
In addition to technical skills, companies in Santa Catarina especially value soft skills such as problem-solving ability, teamwork, and proactivity, according to Moacir Marafon, vice president of Talent at ACATE.
Capitalization and Innovation Potential
The performance of the tech sector in Santa Catarina reflects the strength of hubs like Florianópolis and Vale do Itajaí.
The expectation is that, by 2030, the segment will represent 10% of the state GDP, driven by the expansion of startups and innovative companies.
