During Tree Week, Paraná Expanded Native Seedling Distribution by 20%, Strengthening Reforestation and Environmental Education Programs with Extensive Social Mobilization in All Regions
The Tree Week in Paraná marked a significant advance in reforestation and environmental preservation actions in 2025, according to an article published.
Between September 15 and 21, the Water and Land Institute (IAT) distributed 25,340 native seedlings, a number 20% above the initial goal, equivalent to the regeneration of 38.4 hectares, about 40 soccer fields.
The initiative mobilized more than 8,000 people and 90 institutions from different regions, including municipalities, schools, businesses, and volunteers.

The program reinforces the State’s commitment to environmental balance and integrates the Paraná Mais Verde initiative, which combines economic development and social sustainability.
The task force also promoted lectures and workshops on the role of trees in nutrient cycling, carbon storage, and preservation of springs, fostering a responsible and participative environmental culture.
Environmental Education in Tree Week Strengthens Sustainable Social Engagement
Environmental education was one of the pillars of Tree Week, highlighting the importance of knowledge for the formation of conscious citizens.
During the campaign, schools and institutions participated in themed workshops and lectures aimed at the recovery of biomes and the rational use of natural resources.
According to forest engineer Alexandre Mastella from the IAT, the planted trees directly contribute to intensifying the water cycle and maintaining ecological balance.
The collective learning was essential to consolidate participatory reforestation, promoting the involvement of children, youth, and adults in simple yet impactful environmental practices.
Distribution of Native Seedlings Reinforces Participatory Reforestation
The donation of native seedlings was the highlight of the campaign, with 25,340 units delivered across all regions of the State.
The initiative by the IAT surpassed the initial planning by 4,200 seedlings, resulting from popular adherence and institutional cooperation.
The species were allocated to Areas of Permanent Preservation (APPs), around springs, and rural and urban properties in the process of environmental recovery.
The objective is to increase vegetation cover and reduce the impacts of degradation. Each tree planted represents a step forward in carbon storage and nutrient cycling, directly benefiting the quality of soil and water.
Paraná Mais Verde Program Promotes Environmental and Economic Recovery
The Paraná Mais Verde program is established as one of the main environmental public policies of the State.
It operates in six fronts: Revitaliza Viveiros, Socio-environmental Nurseries, Incentive for Endangered Species, Commemorative Dates, Urban Parks, and Poliniza Paraná.
These lines of action seek to unite environmental, economic, and social development, promoting tree planting in both urban and rural areas.
Tree Week strengthens this movement by encouraging community participation and the creation of a culture focused on sustainable management and the preservation of Paraná’s biomes.
Sustainability and Public Policies Ensure the Future of Native Forests
The increase in the distribution of native seedlings reflects Paraná’s commitment to long-term environmental policies.
The collaboration among government, institutions, and civil society demonstrates that sustainability is a feasible and necessary path.
The results of 2025 show that the State is making progress in responsible reforestation, positively impacting air, soil, and water quality.
The actions during Tree Week reinforce Paraná’s leadership in environmental recovery and ecological education, inspiring other states to adopt similar models of integrated environmental participation.
