The Company Secured A Considerable Contract To Support The Development Of The New Gas Field, Strengthening The Energy Production Of The Region.
Subsea7, a company based in Luxembourg, has signed a new multimillion-dollar contract with Shell Trinidad and Tobago. The agreement aims to develop the Aphrodite gas field, located off the coast of the country. Subsea7 will be responsible for the transportation and installation of subsea equipment for the project, which is situated in waters up to 290 meters deep.
A Multimillion-Dollar Contract For Subsea7
The contract is classified as considerable, with an estimated value between US$ 50 million and US$ 150 million. Engineering and project management activities will begin immediately at Subsea7‘s office in Houston, Texas. Offshore operations are planned for the year 2027.
With the start of operations at Aphrodite, the underwater development of which is under the responsibility of Subsea7, Shell plans to expand its Integrated Gas business. The new gas field will provide raw materials for the country’s Atlantic LNG plant. Adam Lowmass, Vice President of Shell, stated that the investment ensures the energy future of Trinidad and Tobago. The project will strengthen the domestic gas market and boost local industries. First production is expected in 2027, with a peak estimated at 18,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Craig Broussard, Senior Vice President of Subsea7, highlighted the importance of collaboration. He stated that engagement with Shell from the outset was key to generating trust and efficiency. According to Broussard, the contract reflects Subsea7‘s growing presence in the region and commitment to safe project delivery, supporting local talent.
Subsea7: A Series Of Recent Contracts
This agreement with Shell comes just two months after Subsea7 closed another contract with a energy giant. This previous work involved a floating production system (FPS) in the Gulf of America. Recently, Subsea7 also secured a contract to install pipelines, umbilicals, and other subsea components to connect to an FPSO.
