In Hong Kong, a parking space of 134.5 square feet, about 12.5 m², linked to the Mount Nicholson development reached US$ 1.3 million, surpassed another local record, and exposed how ultra-luxury properties and limited urban space drive prices to rare levels.
A parking space in Hong Kong was sold for US$ 1.3 million at Mount Nicholson, an ultra-luxury development overlooking Victoria Harbour and among the most expensive residences in Asia.
Parking space breaks record
The space is 134.5 square feet and was part of spaces for sale in the development. The value surpassed the previous record of US$ 980,000, also in Hong Kong.
The figure draws attention because it exceeds the price of many houses. In one of the most expensive markets in the world, a parking space becomes coveted when there is high purchasing power.

Mount Nicholson concentrates ultra-luxury
Mount Nicholson brings together high-standard residences. The view of Victoria Harbour explains the prestige of the address and the interest in items associated with the property.
In this context, the parking space ceases to be just a place to store a car. It matches the standard of the development and the rarity of private spaces.
Other spaces also cost a lot
Although the case in Hong Kong is the most expensive mentioned, there are examples of spaces costing US$ 150,000 in Shanghai and US$ 525,000 in Sydney. In London, a narrow space reached US$ 66,000.
The sale of the parking space took place in June 2021, at Mount Nicholson, an ultra-luxury development located in The Peak, Hong Kong. The space was negotiated for HK$ 10.2 million, about US$ 1.3 million, according to the newspaper The Standard, which published the case on June 3, 2021.
