KS Drilling, from Singapore, in a joint venture with Universal Energy Resources, won a contract with Eni for the chartering of the semi-submersible rig SSV Catarina.

KS stated that the sixth-generation semi-submersible unit would start operating in Indonesia “in 2019,” without specifying a date. “The expected contract value for the consortium is approximately US$ 95 million,” KS Energy, a parent company of KS, said.

The announcement from KS Energy on the Singapore Stock Exchange comes as a confirmation of previous reports from April by Eni, which took over the drilling platform in Indonesia.
The drilling rig SSV Catarina is owned by the Brazilian drilling company Petroserv. Offshore Energy Today reached out to KS Drilling for more details about its relationship with Petroserv. We will update the article if we receive a response.

According to data provided by Bassoe Analytics, the SSV Catarina is expected to begin work for Eni in Indonesia on August 1, 2019, with the contract set to expire on July 31, 2021. Bassoe estimated the daily rate at around US$ 200,000.

Data from VesselsValue, however, shows slightly different terms. According to the site, the day rate is around US$ 220,000, and the contract starts in July. Both VV and Bassoe show that the rig will remain with Eni for two years.
