Suomen Hyotytuuli Obtained Licenses for Water and Construction for the Demonstration Phase of the Offshore Wind Farm Expansion Project in Tahkoluoto. The Tahkoluoto Extension will be Located Between 4 and 22 km Off the Coast of Pori, in Western Finland. The Demonstration Phase Will Add Two New Wind Turbines to Pilot Large-Scale Offshore Wind Turbines and a Base Concept for Deep Waters in Frozen Sea Conditions. The Findings from the Demonstration Project Will Be Applied to the Tahkoluoto Expansion Project, Which Consists of Forty Wind Turbines Over 15 MW Each. The Construction Phase Is Expected to Run from 2027 to 2029. The Total Capacity of the Wind Farm Will Be 600–800MW. ‘This Is the First Time Licenses Have Been Granted for Wind Turbines of This Scale in Finland. It Was Important for Us to Ensure That the Detailed Understanding of Marine Life We Gathered During the Environmental Impact Assessment and Land Use Planning Was Taken into Account in the Licensing’, Said Juho Lappalainen, Project Development Manager for the Tahkoluoto Offshore Extension.
