Suzano Will Invest BRL 85 Million in Maintenance and Modernization of the Factory in Aracruz, Boosting the Local Economy and Ensuring Operational Safety.
On March 15th, Suzano, a global giant in the pulp sector, began the General Shutdown (PG) for scheduled maintenance of Factory C, located in Aracruz, Espírito Santo. With an investment of BRL 85 million, the initiative stimulates the local economy and benefits various sectors such as hospitality, food, transportation, and commerce.
Modernization and Economic Impact
The process involves 102 companies of different sizes, including micro and small firms, as well as the engagement of 1,850 highly qualified professionals. Of these, 74% are local workers, reinforcing Suzano’s commitment to regional development.
According to Fabrício José da Silva, the company’s Operations Director, the General Shutdown not only ensures the operational safety of the unit but also generates positive impacts on the economy and society.

“General Shutdowns are essential for the efficient and safe maintenance of our activities. Furthermore, they contribute to the regional economy by boosting the hiring of local companies and increasing the demand for services such as food, hospitality, and transportation. This is a reflection of our guiding principle: ‘It’s only good for us if it’s good for the world,’” emphasized Silva.
In addition to scheduled maintenance, Suzano allocated 30% of the investment for equipment modernization at the factory, ensuring greater operational efficiency and safety. During the PG, 2,860 work orders and 16 projects will be executed, including improvements to essential industrial systems.
Factory C, the most modern in Suzano’s industrial complex in Aracruz, has a robust structure, consisting of 14,700 instruments, over 9,000 valves, 7,380 motors, 1,950 pumps, and 920 magnetic flow meters. All this machinery will undergo rigorous inspections and adjustments to ensure its optimal functioning.
Clynton Roger Guastti de Oliveira, Planning and Maintenance Manager of the company, emphasizes the importance of safety in the process:
“Work safety is a priority, especially given the large number of professionals involved. Our goal is to ensure that all steps are carried out efficiently, without environmental impact and with total protection for people and facilities.”
Expansion and New Investments from Suzano
Suzano is already planning another General Shutdown at the Aracruz unit for October 2025. Additionally, the company continues to invest in the modernization of the plant, having invested approximately BRL 1.5 billion in the industrial complex throughout 2024.
Among the main expansion projects, the implementation of a new tissue paper factory stands out, along with the construction of a biomass boiler that will be used for generating electricity and in the pulp production process. These initiatives reinforce Suzano’s strategy of innovation and sustainability in the sector.
With this set of actions, Suzano reaffirms its commitment to growth, strengthening its market position and promoting the economic and social development of the regions where it operates.
