Telespazio Brazil Recently Inaugurated a New Satellite Teleport in Maricá, Rio de Janeiro. The New Space Will Host the OneWeb Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) Satellite Gateway and Can Accommodate Various Ground Stations for Satellites, LEO and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) Satellite Infrastructure, as Well as Ground Stations for Earth Observation.
The Satellite Teleport has a redundant internet connection and fiber connectivity to the major data centers in Rio and São Paulo. With the OneWeb Gateway operating with 15 antennas and a redundant datacenter on the same site, the Gateway will be part of OneWeb’s LatAm Ground System and will provide low-latency, high-security broadband communications for government institutions, defense industries, oil and gas, aviation, as well as for mobile network companies bringing 3G, 4G, and 5G to all parts of Brazil.
The inauguration ceremony of the satellite teleport was attended by representatives from the government, industry, political and military authorities. For Luigi Pasquali, Coordinator of Space Activities and CEO of Telespazio, the inauguration of the Maricá Teleport is a key piece in Telespazio’s global strategy in the terrestrial segment.
“Brazil, where we have been present since 1997, and more broadly Latin America, is a region with an economic potential only partially expressed, with some economies growing strongly and with a clear satellite vocation for both satcom and geoinformation services,” said Pasquali.

What Is a Teleport
Telespazio Brazil, a company providing aerospace and technology services, has just inaugurated the Satellite Teleport. With the aim of providing efficient broadband services both locally and long-distance, the teleport offers its customers a high-performance cost-benefit ratio, with satellite services, fiber optics, shortwave, and other network structures.
The satellite teleport is considered a service-providing hub with high connectivity, ideal for companies that require high performance and speed in their daily operations. With a reduced cost, companies can benefit from exclusive shared services that ensure significant economies of scale. This relationship has proven efficient in other countries, where the teleport is already a great success.
Like a seaport, the Satellite Teleport offers exclusive advantages and shared costs. The economy of scale benefits not only companies but the sector as a whole, ensuring greater competitiveness and quality of services provided. The teleport is an essential investment for the economic development of the country, ensuring an efficient system, and meeting the connectivity demands present in the current market.
