The Thermoelectric Complex
Located in the municipality of Capivari de Baixo, SC, the Jorge Lacerda Thermoelectric Complex was designed by Federal government in the 1960s to use mineral coal from the southern region of Santa Catarina and provide the electrical system with a strategic reserve, especially in periods of scarce rainfall.
It consists of seven generating groups, grouped into three plants: Jorge Lacerda A, with two generating units of 50 MW and two of 66 MW each, Jorge Lacerda B, with two units of 131 MW each, and Jorge Lacerda C, with a generator of 363 MW, totaling 857 MW. The physical guarantee for the commercialization of its energy is 649,9 MW average and its authorization for operation is valid until 2028.
