Desenrola Brasil will have a new phase with special credit for informal workers and those in good standing. Announcement expected by June, according to Minister Dario Durigan.

According to information from ig, the federal government plans to launch, in June, a new stage of Desenrola Brasil focusing on informal workers and consumers who keep their debts up to date but still suffer from the burden of high interest rates on their monthly budget. The information was disclosed by the Minister of Finance, Dario Durigan, during an interview on the program Bom Dia, Ministro, broadcast by Canal Gov on Wednesday (6).

Why is the informal worker at the center of the new Desenrola stage?

According to Durigan, this group deserves special attention precisely because they don’t have a predictable income. Unlike those who receive a fixed salary every month, informal workers depend on daily and variable earnings, which makes any financial planning much more difficult.

“They don’t have a fixed monthly income, they don’t have a recurring salary; they have to go out and earn their daily living in a very specific, very erratic way. And they are the ones who incur the most expensive interest rates in the country,” declared the minister.

The new credit line is still being structured but already has a scheduled date to be presented to society: the deadline informed by the ministry is early June.

Desenrola Famílias: program already in effect

On Monday (May 4), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva launched the reformulated version of Desenrola Brasil — named Desenrola Famílias. The initiative is aimed at Brazilians with a monthly income of up to five minimum wages, equivalent to R$ 8,105.

The program offers facilitated conditions for debt renegotiation in some of the most common and burdensome modalities of the financial system:

  • Credit card
  • Overdraft
  • Unsecured personal loan

To participate, the debt must be overdue between 90 days and up to two years, and have been incurred until January 31, 2026. The interest rate applied in the renegotiation is limited to 1.99% per month — well below what is practiced by the market in these modalities.

Furthermore, the program includes students with financing through the Student Financing Fund (Fies), creating an opportunity for this group to also renegotiate their debts with more accessible conditions.

Those who pay on time will also be included

One of the novelties that drew attention was the inclusion of individuals in good standing within the program’s scope. Minister Durigan was emphatic in refuting criticisms that Desenrola could encourage delinquency by benefiting those with overdue accounts.

According to him, the objective is exactly the opposite: to foster payment and strengthen the culture of financial compliance in the country.

“What we are trying to foster here is compliance, it’s the payment of bills. That’s what interests us,” stated Durigan.

The minister acknowledged that the high indebtedness of Brazilian families has roots in a historically difficult period, marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, high unemployment, and income stagnation. For him, it is fair that those who kept up with their payments also receive some kind of benefit, especially given the interest rates that still weigh on their budgets.

Other features planned for Desenrola Brasil

The program goes beyond simple renegotiation. Check out the main additional mechanisms:

  • FGTS as a cash payment: it is possible to use up to 20% of the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) balance, or up to R$ 1,000 (whichever is greater), to settle debts in a single payment.
  • Mandatory financial education: participating financial institutions must invest in financial education the equivalent of 1% of the guarantees offered in the program.
  • Online betting block: those who join Desenrola will have their CPF blocked for 12 months for participation in online betting platforms authorized in Brazil. The measure aims to protect the beneficiary during the financial reorganization process.

What to expect from the next stages of Desenrola?

With the new phase under study, the government demonstrates that the program should not end in the current edition. The intention is to expand the reach of Desenrola to also reach those who, even without being delinquent, still carry the high cost of credit in their monthly budget.

The official announcement is expected in the coming weeks, with details on conditions, eligible public, and participating institutions. Until then, those who already qualify for Desenrola Famílias can seek information on the official channels of the federal government.
